I was attracted to the project because the client had a clear vision of what he wanted his restaurant to be. As he explained his concept it became clear to me that his space should be a celebration of culture. Ramen is crazy important in Japan and it exists in this permanent juxtaposition of a high art form while maintaining everyday common man status. We wanted to evoke street markets, everyday commonality yet create a hip fun space that mimicked the spirit of creativity that the owner brings to his cooking.
