The original building was a prefabricated long span steel building serving as a Tennis Club. In a previous renovation, a colonial-style, timber portico was wrapped around the building like a bad disguise. Wiping away the previous attempt to cover up and change the building, our approach was to embrace the modernism of a long-span metal building and used that as inspiration to complement the retail uses it is now intended to house. The applied clapboard skin was replaced with a butt glazed storefront. A new cornice was designed to celebrate the building's scale; crowning the retail use and inviting the thousands of commuters driving by to explore the interior of this commanding building.
